Post-Secondary Planning Assembly
Guidance is holding a “Post-Secondary Planning Assembly” on Thursday, Sept. 26th (BLOCK B).  This is a mandatory assembly for all grade 12 or 5th year students. Lots of key information will be shared about applying to college, university, apprenticeships and entering the workforce.
Financing Your Education/Scholarships Meeting (LUNCH – Thursday, Sept. 26th)
Following the Post-Secondary Planning Assembly on Thursday, any students interested in learning more about scholarships or financing their post-secondary education, are invited to remain in the Auditorium to meet with Ms. Gowing.
Ontario University Fair
The Ontario University Fair is THIS weekend – Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th, from 10AM – 5PM daily at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  Admission is free.  ALL Ontario universities will be represented with staff available to answer any questions.  This is a great starting point for Grade 11, 12 and 5th year students to begin their post-secondary research on universities. Conestoga College Fair – WCI Bus Trip
WCI’s Guidance Department will be taking buses of interested Grade 11, 12 and 5th year students to the Conestoga College Fair on Tuesday, October 22nd from 10AM-1PM.  Alternatively, students can attend the Fair on their own in the evening of October 22nd from 5:30-7:30PM. All Ontario colleges will be represented.  In addition to diploma, certificate and apprenticeship programs, colleges now have many degree programs that can be entered directly from high school OR after obtaining a diploma.  Degree programs also have a co-op component.  Permission forms for the bus trip will be available in the Guidance Office. Grade 9 “Meet and Greets”
Guidance Counsellors have begun meeting with their grade 9 students for a check-in as to how life at WCI is going so far.  We have asked students to make an appointment on the Guidance website. If you have a student in grade 9, please remind them to do so.  Counsellors are assigned by last name.
Guidance Google Classrooms
Guidance has moved from one Google Classroom to one Classroom per grade.  In these Google Classrooms, information is shared about course selection, community service opportunities, scholarships, post-secondary planning and more. Please encourage your student to join the appropriate classroom.  If you have access to your student’s other Google Classrooms, you will be added to the appropriate Guidance classroom when your student joins. 2019 Guidance Google Classroom codes:

College and University Visits
