Hello Vikings! We wanted to make you aware of some key dates and information for college and university admissions, including some next steps if you have NOT yet received an offer of admission.

IMPORTANT: Any offers of admission are CONDITIONAL – this means that your final marks will be sent to the colleges/universities in June to ensure you have met the conditions outlined in your offer.

***It is your responsibility to check EACH school’s online account/profile that you have created for key information, deadlines and tasks. Guidance does not receive this information – it is up to you to stay informed.

INFO FOR UNIVERSITY-BOUND STUDENTS:

Wednesday, May 27th, 2020 (tomorrow):
The latest date all high school applicants can expect a response from an Ontario university. This includes: an offer of admission; a refusal; or a deferral, once additional information is received.

Monday, June 1st, 2020:
The earliest date an Ontario high school student may be required to respond to an Ontario university offer of admission and give a financial commitment (e.g., registration deposit, residence deposit, etc.).

All other admissions-related elements, including scholarships, other forms of student assistance or financial incentives, and offers of residence are considered part of the offer of admission. Therefore, a student may accept these other offers before June 1, 2020, but Ontario universities will not compel a student in any way to make a decision earlier than this date.

Friday, June 5th, 2020: Admission Information Service (AIS):
The Admission Information Service is a service that allows applicants to determine which universities may have places remaining in specific programs. This service will open June 5, 2020. IF YOU ARE STILL WANTING TO GO TO UNIVERSITY THIS FALL, PLEASE VISIT THE AIS WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION AND EMAIL YOUR GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

INFO FOR COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS:

Ontario colleges continue to accept students into programs up to the beginning of classes, space permitting. Please visit the Ontario Colleges website to learn more to see which programs still have room and to complete the application process. Contact your Guidance Counsellor with any questions.
