The link below is a map outlining the boundaries of the Instructional Strings Magnet Program that all Waterloo Region District School Board schools must follow. At the Magnet Information Night in November, it was wrongly communicated that students whose home secondary school is Bluevale Collegiate Institute are allowed to register for our WCI Strings Magnet. The map clearly indicates that students whose home secondary school, based on the student’s home address, is Bluevale, must enroll in the Strings Magnet Program offered at Grand River Collegiate Institute.

As this has recently come to my attention, I must act on this knowledge and abide by the boundaries set out by the Waterloo Region District School Board. Hence, any students registering for the 2018-19 school year, who live in the secondary boundary for Bluevale Collegiate Institute and are requesting a Strings Magnet must apply and register at Grand River Collegiate only. Waterloo Collegiate will not be accepting these applications.
Please note that students requesting Extended French Magnet Program who live in the Bluevale boundary may continue to register at WCI. This boundary confusion only applies to students requesting the Strings Magnet Program only.
We regret any confusion this mis-information may have caused. Questions or concerns may be directed to me, by phone at 519-884-9590.
