English Language Learners need to know that they may be required to meet language proficiency requirements for acceptance into Post Secondary Institutions.

For most Post Secondary Institutions the general rule is that: if students have not studied for at least 4 years in an English-instruction high school, they are expected to take a proficiency test such as: TOEFL or IELTS.

To know for sure if this is a requirement of your desired college or university, check the website. Requirements vary by college, university, and program.

WCI offers a TOEFL/IELTS preparation course for credit. It is called GLS4OZ.

Students will still need to pay for and take the actual test in the community.

The TOEFL® test is the most widely respected English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 9,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries, including Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the United States. Wherever you want to study, the TOEFL test can help you get there.

IELTS refers to The International English Language Testing System. It is also recognized worldwide. Both tests are comparable.
