October 25th, 2018
1 in 20 households in the Waterloo Region needs food assistance of some sort.
Starting October 22nd, WCI will be participating in Trick or Eat, our annual food drive. We will be collecting any non-perishable food items, with most items being worth one point while some special items are worth two points. Collection will be taking place from October 22nd to November 2nd in each homeroom as well as the office. The homeroom that has the most points at the end of next week will win a special treat!
While most food items will be worth one point, there are some food items that will be worth two points since they are in high demand. These items are:
- Peanut butter
- Canned fruit
- Rice
- Canned meat and fish
- Pasta sauce
- Dry beans
- Beans in sauce
- Canned stews and chilis
- Hot cereal
- Canned soup
This year, we’ve added an extra twist to our food drive! WCI will be competing against SJAM to see which school can donate the most food. The losing school’s vice principals must wear the winning school’s jerseys for a day. Please help WCI make a difference in our community by donating to our Trick or Eat!
