Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  Every student in a grade 9 class in the WRDSB receives a Chromebook for school use.

To help our grade 9 students become prepared for learning when classes begin on September 8th, we have decided to provide an opportunity for grade 9 students to pick up their Chromebooks, regardless of which cohort they are in.

Chromebook Instructions

In preparation for grade 9 Chromebook pick up, parents and students (both in person and distance learners) are asked to:

Chromebook Pickup:

On THURSDAY, September 3rd, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm students and/or their guardians may choose to pick up their Chromebook device before the start of classes on Sept. 8.

When picking up the Chromebook, it is imperative that you limit the number of individuals (student/parent/guardian) attending the school property to pick up the device, in order to adhere to the strict guidelines from the Government of Ontario for social gatherings and social distancing. It is recommended that only a single individual be lined up for Contactless Pickup.

We can assure you that our staff will be strictly following all safety guidelines – including hand sanitation, wearing gloves, avoiding touching face (eyes, nose or mouth), social distancing and respiratory etiquette. Drive-by curbside pickup is not available and parents are asked to park in the front 2 lots, located on Hazel Street.

When arriving at WCI, approach the front Main Entrance. There will be staff available to help you. Be sure to follow the marked walkway to ensure appropriate health & safety measures.

Any students who are unable to take advantage of this optional early pickup on September 3rd will receive their device on the first day of their cohorts’ physical attendance date (which will be either Sept 8th or Sept 10th for our in-class attending cohorts), and Distance Learning Program students can take advantage of a potential second opportunity to get their device.

What do I need to bring?

All students need to have a parent or guardian complete the 1:1 Chromebook Agreement before receiving their device. Parents/Guardians/Students are to be prepared to show a print or digital confirmation that the form has been completed using the response email that will go to their email account upon completion of the survey.

The location of all Chromebook distributions will be at the front Main Entrance on Hazel St. Parking is available in the front 2 parking lots of the school (off Hazel St).  Please dress for the weather, wear a mask, line up in a socially distanced manner, follow all signage and directions of staff. There will be no access to the building for washroom use or any other reason.

We look forward to meeting you!
