We are experiencing bicycle theft at WCI.  This past week, we have made in-school announcements to make our students aware of the thefts and how to best protect their property.

We have contacted Waterloo Region Police Services and they have provided us with some best practice tips to help avoid such incidents.

Police are encouraging students to protect their bicycles and help police recover their bike if it’s stolen.

Remember –

• Store your bike in a well lit public location, preferably with video cameras
• Lock the wheels to the frame and both to a secure object.
• Use a U-lock style kryptonite lock as thinner cable locks are often cut and the theft occurs within a few minutes.
