On May 22nd, Waterloo Collegiate Institute will be hosting Harold Godwin, a guest speaker from the University of Waterloo to talk with parents about the use of artificial intelligence in schools, and its impact on students, and student achievement. A.I. is rapidly changing the landscape of schools, often leaving educators, parents, and our community trying to create responses to its use, without fully understanding this new technology. Our guest speaker will present to parents on the following topics:

  • What Artificial Intelligence is (and the basics of how it works)
  • How it is being used in today’s world and in employment industries
  • The benefits of Artificial Intelligence for students, and also the drawbacks and dangers
  • How schools are responding to the use of A.I. and the challenges that it creates for education in the 21st century

The presentation will start at 6:00 PM in the WCI library. Light refreshments will be served. Our regular School Council Meeting will take place immediately following the presentation. If you have any questions, please email WCI, or call the school at 519 884 – 9590. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
