September 29th, 2026
Observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 provides a dedicated time for us to learn about the history of the Residential School System. Operating for 165 years, these schools separated Indigenous children from their families and communities as part of a systematic effort to strip away their cultures, traditions, and languages.
September 30 is also recognized as Orange Shirt Day, inspired by the story of Survivor Phyllis Webstad. It is a day to honour Survivors, remember the children who never came home, and understand the ongoing impacts faced by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.
On Wednesday, September 30th, each homeroom class will participate in a lesson and activity to learn and reflect on this history.
If any student requires a quiet space, our library will be available.

Thank you.
