Did you know that WCI has a Breakfast Program? Breakfast is available every day from 7:45 am to 8:10 am in the lower staff dining room beside the vending machines. Teachers are there to greet over 75 students per day with a welcome smile and are serving up whole grain cereal, milk, bagels, granola bars, fruit and yogurt for those who need it. It is open to anyone who for whatever reason was unable to eat at home or who don’t have any other food or money for the day. Some days the breakfast program is an absolute necessity, some days it may be a convenience. Either way, WCI needs your help!
Currently, our school is fundraising for our Nutrition For Learning Program to help cover expenses. All money raised will stay right here at Waterloo Collegiate and be used toward the purchase of healthy food. If you would like to make a donation online please look for the Nutrition For Learning link on the WCI website or click the button below.
A tax receipt will be given for a donation of $20.00 or more. Last week a homeroom challenge took place and the class that raised the most money was served a made to order hot breakfast from the Food and Nutrition class.
Eating healthy has become a challenge for everyone in our community. For many different reasons, we can find it difficult to obtain nutritious food, or the time to eat it. Research has proven that students who come to school hungry are at a clear disadvantage. It is important for everyone to nourish themselves at the start of the day to be at their best physically, academically and emotionally.
Thank you for your support!
