Welcome to Student Council Elections!
Student Council Elections season begins in March. We are looking for students in ANY grade who want to make a difference, are determined, drive, enthusiastic and have an excellent work ethic. To fill the roles of Co-Mayor, Arts Director, Athletics Director, Events Director, Student Life Director and Wellness Director. For more information about these positions CLICK HERE.
Nomination Week take place for the first week of March. To nominate a classmate paper ballot are found by the Student Activities Office for the week. Students can be nominate for any or all of the Executive Council positions. Students that qualify will be contacted on the Friday to accept their nominations. Students may only accept one nomination and move on to Prelims.
Prelims are held on the second Tuesday of March. Prelims are designed to narrow down the field of candidates so each position has a maximum of four students for the general election. Students that require to participate in prelims will prepare a 1 to 2 minutes speech depending on the positions and will speak to the current Student Council, Homeroom Reps, Jr. Leadership, ESL leaders and a few randomly selected homerooms.
Election Week officially begins on the Monday after March break. Candidates will be given materials, rules and expectations for the general elections prior to the break. Candidates will clear all of their campaign posters from the school by the Thursday after their Election Assemblies. Candidates will be given rules to follow for their campaign speech to ensure all candidates are given an equal opportunity.
Election Day- Voting Friday- WCI Students will be able to vote all day in the upper foyer. Candidates will be notified by the end of the day the results of the election and the student body will be informed before the bell.
