We are pleased to let our WCI community know that the family we raised money and items to sponsor arrived safely on March 6th and were greeted by a support team from the WCI school community.
The Abdulmajid family is adjusting to Canadian life including having bought snow boots and winter coats. They are happy to be here and optimistic about their future in Canada.
The refugee sponsorship steering committee wants to thank all who donated items and funds to this worthy cause last year. We could not have done it without the support of the greater WCI community.
It is exciting for WCI’s community to be supporting this family as they make a new life in Waterloo. Several Vikings, also from Syria, are taking leadership roles in helping the family of 6 with their settlement process.
If further support is required, we will post our needs through the website. Stay tuned for more updates. On behalf of the committee and the Abdulmajid family, thank you once again to the whole WCI community whose generosity made this sponsorship a reality.
