What is DECA?

By giving students hands-on experiences in the fields of business, marketing, and entrepreneurship, DECA enhances classroom learning by providing conferences and competitions that develop high school students into character-driven leaders.

Who belongs to this dynamic organization?

Any high school student interested in business, where there is a DECA chapter, can join DECA Ontario. Throughout the province, schools form their own chapters and elect their own executive officers. Business studies teachers serve as the school chapter advisors. DECA chapters are self-supportive, with members paying regional, provincial and international membership dues. Community sponsorship and fund raising activities may assist with these fees, as well as build valuable connections.

DECA Ontario currently has over 6,000 members, from over 150 chapters across Ontario. These chapters come from public, Catholic, and private high schools.

International DECA is the only student organization operating in 50 states, the U.S. Territories, Canada, Korea, Germany, and Mexico, that attracts individuals to productive careers in business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. It is an extra-curricular organization that enriches the high school learning experience.

The Company Program

This after-school program is designed to give high school students an opportunity to set up and run a business for themselves.

Guided by a team of volunteer business consultants, these young entrepreneurs gain practical, first-hand experience running their own REAL business. The students form a company, raise start-up capital, elect company management, produce and market a product or service, and then go on to liquidate their business at the end of the 20 week program.
